And anyway, your description of how the history dialog should look is exactly the way I wish to make it. :)
i love you  :)

another thing: is it posibble to make a "link" for jabber contacts? ex:
on this forum we have jabber buttons with status - but if you want to talk to that person you have to open the wizard, fill in the adress, run the properities, correct the adress ;-) and then talk
if there could be link like jab:polqba@jabber.pl running it in web browser would open a chat/autorise dialog with contact polqba@jabber.org..... - Just like it is for news - news:nntp.something.com will open your default newsreader and add a serwer to list

i know that this topic gets back over and over again, ;-)

There is a proposal somewhere for those kind of links (i even think it was by stpeter), but i can't find the link. Anyway, there is not one browser which implements this (yet). And you would have to be able to 'remote control' Psi which is very hard to do in a platform-independent way.

Last I heard this was /deferred/.  Let's see if I can find the post about it...

Ahh here we go.  JEP-0032: Jabber URI Scheme.  This one is actually retracted.
Version 0.4 (2003-09-02)
Retracted the JEP, since it is superseded by draft-ietf-xmpp-uri, an Internet-Draft produced by the IETF's XMPP WG. (psa)

I leave looking up the internet draft an exercise for the reader.  :)

That's too bad, because Psi _needs_ Avatars :P.
(At least, if we want MSN whores *cough* users to start using it.)

I really fail to see why not. A humble little picture in a chat window can't be that bad. And even then, it could be easily switchable.

Because Rhymbox is not Psi. And because Rhymbox doesn't work (i'm probably generalizing, but it never worked here, and so i would never recommend that client  to anyone).

I used to have an issue with avatars but I got over it.  As long as it's a client-side option whether you wish to see them or not, nobody should care.  That was before I got involved on many forums (like this one) and now I would _want_ people to see my avatar.  When you scan a forum thread it's easy to see who has chipped in (except when you have 50 people sharing one *cough* jabber.org.au *cough*).

But Dewy summarized pretty nicely, agreed.

Guys, it really surprises me to read you saying that people are finding Psi hard to set up, and giving up. I've helped introduce Jabber to Distributed Proofreaders, and nearly everybody chose Psi because it was so easy to set up and use!

The only thing they don't find intuitive, is that when setting up a new account, it is not obvious that you need to put your full Jabber ID in the field. Many people put their username only in there and go on trying for ages, not being successful in registering.

Other than that, it is so simple to use!

We would vote for groupchat support, listing groupchats in roster for example, and muc support, because we are finding the groupchat a really valuable added aspect to our activities. It's even created new terminology for DP:

groofing  group proofing
gropping  group post-processing
grentoring  group mentoring

so it has added to our culture.

Thanks so much for all your work on this great program!

love from Clytie

[DP is the scanning/proofreading/final production arm of Project Gutenberg, putting thousands of books online, free, for everyone, just one page at a time. Anyone who can spare any time would be very welcome, it's a fun and rewarding site: very Psi-conscious!]

I would like to see a feature which is not present in any jabber communicator AFAIK - to display a person's status (description) directly under the nickname. Looks like this:

Right, but RhymBox lacks few very important options, PSI is almost perfect for me apart of this status feature and maybe file transfer.

This feature has been asked several times before. See http://psi.affinix.com/forums/index.php?ac...t=ST&f=4&t=1064 for details.
