Ok guys... I know there's at least one in there I feel passionately enough about to buy a book and get my hands dirty.  Which one is highest on your list?  Personally, I have to say the Setup User Wizard because users are having a hard time even getting started, and guess what: 99% of them don't post in the forum to ask for help; they just give up.  That's my 2 cents.
Jabber is to IM as SMTP is to Mail

I have also voted Setup User Wizard, though File Transfer would be more important to me :)
So I think my list would be:

File transfer

Setup User Wizard

Improved Message History

Keyboard Shortcuts
Fritzy, your arguments convince me. I step back from my favourites, too. The biggest Advantage at the moment can only be the widspread usage of jabber  in general, i can live without some features for now, but the biggest feature is to get new jabber contacts in my roster instead of any other IM protocol.

(even better when it is psi that serves for this )

make it staright quick and clear, the way we all like wizards (when we really need them), and of course:

Let this Wizzard be the "One Wizard  to rule them all, One Wizard to find them, One Wizard to bring them all and in the Jabber bind them!"

The only reason why I didn't include File Transfer is because that's a given.  I know Justin is working hard at having that ready as soon as the Jabber Council OK's it.  And it's not like we can push the programmers to have it any sooner than the approval.

A better MUC support would be important for admins of a room. This would also help psi, if this sort of people use psi.

I would also love file transfe!! Hope it is approved in some weeks.

I hope I didn't sound like I think you guys aren't doing your best.  If you just ask me which feature I want most, I have to say File transfer.  OTOH, if you ask me which feature that can be coded right now I want most, I have to agree that that would be the New User Wizzard.

Hope this makes things a bit clear :P.

I would like to be able to make me look like I'm offline/away to some people but not all. (Maybe this is included in 0.9?)

I think it's very important to have Psi support all features that Microsoft Messenger provides, such that users are willing to switch. So, my list (in order of importance):

File transfer

Setup user wizard

'Is typing' notification

Avatars
This is my list.

Typing notification

File transfer

Tabbed chat

Improved history
'Improved history' seems to be a popular pick. Can anyone tell me what has to be improved about the history ?

- History per account, rather than running it all together.
- Store additional information in the history, such as the resources of the sender and receiver.
- Store it in a better format, and allow for log rotation.
- Group all chat message from a given chat together (so the original chat log can be restored).
- Better UI for navigating the history (ditch the weird backwards ICQ dialog for something more sensible, like Yahoo's history browser).
- Save groupchats.

Additional History improvement:
History Filenames for users over transport

Now that I'm thinking, maybe someone uses more transports for MSN let's say (one for each MSN account he has) - if there is such possibility. It's strange, I know.. but...

In this case there should be an option to turn the above mentioned improvement on/off (depending on wether the user has problems with the function) - default ON (I don't think there will be many users with more transports of the same type in their roster).

Two variants:

1) Show that second side is typing NOW.
2) Show, letter by letter or word by word what recipent is typing. Like in Wintlak, Epop or ICQ chat. Often I give answers before second side finish question  B)

I suggested 2) few months ago...

Both variants are good. Second is a bad choice if you use GnuPG encryption.

I personally wouldn't want 2. There are a lot of times (mostly in delicate situations) that i start typing something, rethink it, retype something, rethink it again, and decide to shut up alltogether :)
I think i would have had some embarassing situations if i had 2) on by default ;)
Besides, would it be feasible in Jabber ?
