G'day all

I've taken some time to write some basic documentation for the latest version of Psi.  Although not quite finished, you are welcome to use them now.  If you're having a little trouble getting going, I recommend that you read the Getting Started section.

I welcome feedback and sensible suggestions for improvement.

IceRAM:
Lots of thanks to kNIGits for writing this documentation. It is the base of our new Tutorial which can be found in the Wiki.

Future updates will occur there.

Oh my! A real manual for a Jabber client! Won't be surprised if this is a first ;)
Good thing, Good work, Tony! Finally something that I can point new users to.

Looks great, lots of helpful pictures, nice and clean layout, usable 'chapters', sweet!

Keep up the good work :-D

Is the Psi documentation almost finished?  And can it be translated?

I would be happy to do the Dutch translation.  :)

Hope there would be any use of it...

That's great Pattie, thanks for the help.  Aside from this translation work, does anyone else wish to help on CVS documentation?  Not sure how involved kNIGits will continue to be since he's retired as webmaster, but even if he wishes to continue the great job he has done so far I'm sure more is better.

I think it does not make much sense to really documentate CVS versions as there is changing really much all the time. But I think a good idea may be to have a nice list tracking new features and changes from current release to CVS version to have a good base on which a documentation can be adjusted.
A good side effect IMHO would be that users who are slightly interested in development have a view over what will come in new versions and which features don't need to be requested anymore :D.

Apart from that, I'm always willing to help every now and then with some documentation work, but I'm not a native speaker :(

Maybe we could set up a team that can work on documentation? Having a nice documentation ready in time for 1.0 would be great.

I've been thinking about this as well.  I think we'll do one of those new-fangled wiki type things.

I think that's a very good idea.  A wiki is great for making documentation.  :)

Here are some wiki-systems that I think are very good:

phpWiki  (widely used)
WakkaWiki

Both need PHP and MySQL to work, but I don't think that's a problem...

wanted to throw in:

ErfurtWiki

It's small but overviewable and i think it's good for modifying
(Well, it's the only engine i got working in an acceptable time for myself...  :-D ).

PHP necessary, DB-backend different possibilities including flat files...

I'll be in this, too, if I can help. :)

My husband recently spent quite a bit of time checking out wikis, because he wanted a relatively simple one based on php. He said pmwiki suited him best. So I'll toss it into the pool here. :)
