Subject: HowTo Connect to an IPv6 Jabber Server
Hi,

I have setup an IPv6 / IPv4 Jabber Server.
With Psi I'm only able to connect in IPv4. How can I tell Psi to connect in IPv6 ?

It works fine with Gajim

Server :  koreus.com (jabberd2 2.0.11)

koreus.com has address 91.121.124.71
koreus.com has IPv6 address 2001:41d0:1:7b47::1

telnet -6 koreus.com 5222
Trying 2001:41d0:1:7b47::1...
Connected to koreus.com.
Escape character is '^]'.

Does it not? It should work fine, other people have reported it doing so in the past.
File transfers won't work, but everything else should.

The short answer is that Psi does not really support IPv6 yet.

The long answer is that we actually do have IPv6 support, but it has to be explicitly enabled by defining NO_NDNS during compilation.  There is configuration for this in src/src.pro that can be uncommented.  The reason this is not default behavior is because the IPv6 support of NO_NDNS can potentially break non-IPv6 users (due to buggy Q3Dns), and we figure there's a lot more non-IPv6 users. ;)  So you can have IPv6 in Psi, if you're willing to compile it yourself.

Hopefully this will all be resolved in Psi 0.13.

I'm on Windows and don't have tools for compiling Psi.
So I have no choice than wait for 0.13 :/

Thanks for the reply.

Koreus, you can grab Qt/Windows OpenSource (which comes bundled with MinGW) and OpenSSL for Windows. It's enough to build Psi. :)

MinGW is a port of gcc/g++ compiler to Windows platform.
