Subject: other languages in psi installation
Hi, everyone

is it planned soon to add other languages that are available separately for download directly in main PSI package/install?

Tks.

In short, no this will likely not be very soon unless a volunteer contributor codes this enhancement.  It sounds like machekku (one of the devs) does see some interest in the topic so who knows.  The point to be made here is that we could do a better job in making translations available, we agree.  I'd like to see some sort of automatic translation updater within Psi.

Hi, Hal

Ok, thanks for feedback, but at least to me doesnt seem so had to pack all languages by default, to have less work for users.

Maybe you guys can work somehow with translators to organize it better. If PSI were commercial, maybe it would be easier to be able to force them to do their work.

Anyways, having all languages upon setup would be really nice and maybe incentivates them.

BTW, Would there be some way for me to pack my PSI with portuguese working by default?

regards

One problem that you need to consider is that not all translations are ready when new Psi version is ready. So either we'd have to wait for translators or somehow make them finish on time - both solutions being not really acceptable, I think. Also what about translations that appear after the release? Should we create new installer every time new translation appears?

In the past this was a big hassle because I couldn't run off installers myself. Now I'm aware how to do this, it's feasible.

Indeed, I'm going to look into providing nightly installers, with bundled translations, once we get the translators migrated to svn.
