Hello,

Psi is a Jabber client and next version will support XMPP protocol as well. In short: XMPP is a standarized Jabber version, so You cannot tell that Psi will become multiprotocol IM software.

Psi cannot communicate on peer-to-peer base, it uses Jabber or XMPP servers to do so. Here You can find a list of known server software.
If You consider having Your own Jabber/XMPP server, then You should take a look at jabberd 1.4, jabberd 2.0 or ejabberd server software - they are using GPL software licence. Installation guides for each of those Jabber/XMPP server software should be available on the project pages for each one of them.

There are some web-based Jabber/XMPP clients, notably Google Talk web client (available through English GMail UI) and JWChat. For others, see the linked list of clients (the list is sortable by any column).

Michalj, you bring new meaning to the word 'verbose'. I would have just replied "You can't, Psi is a client not a server."

Hmmm, verbose, more verbose, michalj? ;)

Some people think that Psi is a name of a protocol, so by saying "Psi server" they mean "server for the protocol used by Psi".

I believe there's no better proof that you guys are doing a heck of a job with Psi if there are people starting to mix up the protocol's name with the client's name. It's like mIRC or even tupperware :D

I know I know... tupperware isn't used as a chatting service. But the meetings are, though.
