That JRU doesn't use SSL which Google requires. So no way to use JRU-PHP with Google Talk for now. And until Class.Jabber.PHP supports SSL there is nothing I can do about it. (Is it possible at all to open SSL/TLS TCP connections using PHP?)

Order means nothing on a roster. And the "nicknames" are the contacts' names, which are included in the roster dump. You can alter them or leave them, your decision.

Oh, ok... thanks LonelyPixel. It's just that I haven't been able to log on to my preferred transport through Google Talk... and I don't know if Google is able to block communications to other servers...

I think so. You should be able to handle SSL data for a TCP connection with the openssl functions of php (only if php is compiled with openssl, of course). But actually, I've never tried to do that.
If you find any (coarse) mistakes in my English (e.g. grammar, sentence structure, wrong words used, misspellings that are not just typos, ...), please tell me. I appreciate any help in these matters.

For all of you who are interested in that programme: I have moved its homepage to my new web laboratory. The previous URL is redirecting to http://beta.unclassified.de/projekte/jru-php/.

I have received a patch to Class.Jabber.PHP that should make it PHP5 and Google Talk compatible. I'm going to try it out soon and make a new release if it works.

From my news page:
Thanks to a new patch to Class.Jabber.PHP, this class ist now PHP5-ready and supports STARTTLS on PHP 5.1, which is one of the requirements to log in to Google Talk. I added another small fix so that you can now use JRU-PHP to manage your Google Talk roster. (This requires mhash support in your PHP setup.)

I tried the online JRU, but doesn't work for me.

I get this message:
Could not connect to the Jabber server. Check your account data.

I have tried:
<myname>@jabber.org (with :5222 and :5223 and without a port)

What am I doing wrong?

Looks like the same problem as with Google Talk. Something with the TLS connect on my host is wrong. Try downloading JRU-PHP and run it on a Windows server, that works for me. I still have no idea why TLS only works on Windows. But maybe I'll replace CJP by that new thing anyway. Let's see how that works.

LonelyPixel, thank you for explaining the problem.

I don't run a server. Just a plain user runnng Psi v0.10 on Windows XP Home SP2 if that matters.

I'll try again when you advise that CJP change has been made, if indeed that is what you decide to do.

Thank you,
Lilla

There's a problem with password length.

I tried a 26-character long password, and JRU is unable to auth the account.

I have not yet had the time to check from what length exactly the problem occurs.

This was tested with version 0.4.2 of Jabber.Class as well as version 0.6 of the JRU.

Other than that, I too think it would be a great idea to merge JRU with WebREG.

Please check if you can auth with a shorter password like 8 characters. Maybe it's another problem. JRU-PHP doesn't imply any password length, I don't know about CJP.

What is WebREG?

Yes, I can auth with a shorter pass.
It rather IS a problem with jru, since the password (26 characters long) is auth'd with the jabber server, and doesn't work with jru.
php options are all ok.
FYI, I'm working on apache-2.2.0 and php-5.1.4.
But I doubt it's a problem with that, since my php scripts work just fine with the same pass.
I'd be happy to help out, if you need any.

I finally managed to update JRU-PHP today. But it's only a small update. Recently, I got an e-mail with a proposed patch to make it work with ejabberd again. I haven't got an account on that server, not knowingly. I applied that small patch and also added an option to disable TLS encryption in case there's trouble with it. Please check out the new version on http://unclassified.de/go/jru-php and tell me if it works for you.

That new Jabber PHP class that I've been planning to switch over to for some time is not compatible with PHP5 as I found out now. The author has patches for it, he says, but also no time. We'll see.

Hi there !

Here I come with a little problem. I installed Psi yesterday for the first time. A friend gave me the installer and told me how it works. I got all very enthusiastic about the program and being a user. All was running smoothly until much, much later I decided to change my ID, for my friend told me that could be done later if I wanted to. Since then an error report from the Jabber server , keep popping up everytime I try to connect. Am desperate. I guess I´ve put my foot in deep and have no clue how to fix the thing.

Now I´ve come to what I believe to be Psi or Jabber server or official website and created this account, while wondering at the same time if I may use this account with my jabber.

The JRU post called my attention and I cliked the link.
This img shows wot happened as I tried to goto http://psi-im.org/jru
Can you gimme a hand on this, guys?  :(
I´ll make you Jabber-Addict
