Yes, you are right. We need a slogan for Psi.
And as you may also have guessed, we don't need "any" slogan but a slogan that reflects what Psi stands for. ;)

Any ideas?

Psi - connecting people

But it's already taken. We'd have to destroy one small Telecommunications company from Scandinavia ;-)

Before Psi's first release, the development title was "PsiLisp".  I wanted to combine a word related to communication with a word related to magic, so I came up with lisp and psi, respectively.  The combined name was also a palindrome. :-D  Anyway, the 'lisp' part was later dropped to avoid confusion with the programming language.

You could say, then, that Psi was intended to mean "Magical Communication".  Hmm, sounds like what the Japanese might name an IM client if they had one. :-p

Where does Psi come from again ? Psychic ? So, something like
Psi - Stop reading minds (or in the same direction: 'Psi - You don't have to read minds anymore') :)

I also noticed that palindrome thing.

Something like "Psi is Perfect" came to mind, but that's not a real slogan (more kind of a truth ;) ).

Psi is Presence suggests that we support only one half of XMPP ;-)

I thought about that. But an "Instant messenger" would  imply the same limitation of features. Somehow. Yet we seem all to agree on www.psi-im.org.

www.jabber.org uses the word presence in this context:

"...Jabber is a set of streaming XML protocols and technologies that enable any two entities on the Internet to exchange messages, presence, and other structured information in close to real time.  ...."

So for me "Presence" does not necessarily mean only IM. You can be present in many ways.

"Infinite Communication"? Refering to the open source and standard itself which allow for arbitrary extensability...

Liking Clytie's slogan more each day: "Psi Kicks!". It's a slogan with many levels. You need a bit of english vocabulary to get this one, but even if you don't have that, it's still a pretty convincing slogan :)
