How do we get the sources of the doc? just by downloading by hand each page?
Step 1: You can find the Docbook sources on http://bytewarrior.madoka.be/jabber/psi_do...ocbook/sources/.  Download all the .xml files ("psi.xml", "introduction.xml", "installation.xml", "basic.xml" and "advanced.xml").

And then we translate the text with an html editor?
Step 2: Just open the .xml-file with an editor (notepad, vim, ...) and start translating (don't translate the tags). You don't have to worry about the markup as long as you leave the Docbook-tags in place. If the translation is finished, we can use the translated source to create the HTML/PDF/etc.

Step 3: Put the translated sources online (if that's possible of course) and we'll do the rest.

If you want to know more about Docbook:
- Jabber.org's Quick Quide to Docbook XML
- Docbook: The Definitive Guide

Another question : What is that big compressed file in the directory?

you can answer : "get it and look at it"

I made that but I'm on windows and don't have a tool to unbz2 (I just have Izarc for de/compressing files). so I ask for it :D

edit : replace untar with unbz2

That's everything, zipped up. Docbook sources, images, generated files (HTML), stylesheets, etc.

BTW: You can use 7Zip for opening that archive...

the problem was that when downloading with Firefox the name of the compressed file went from psi.tar.bz2 to psi.tar.bz2.tar so Izarc had some problem understanding the file format.

I modified the name back to psi.tar.bz2 and no problem now :)

but why did you tell me just to download the .xml files, I don't need to translate the html ones?

The XML files are the Docbook source files, they contain only the contents (with some tags).

The HTML files are automatically generated out the XML files. Once you have the Docbook XML sources, you can also make a (X)HTML without chunks (in one page, with no seperate chapters), PDF, etc. All this can be done with a few commandline switches. That's why Docbook is often used to write documentation for software: large documents are easier to maintain (you don't have to edit every file, just the sources).

Especially for you I searched some documentation about Docbook in French:
- Quelques notes sur la création de documents avec Docbook
- Aide Docbook
- Manuel Docbook
- Exemple de document Docbook
